    My new muse.

I thought I would share a photo of my beautiful muse, my daughter Ivie.

She is so smart and funny. She constantly inspires me but its a double edged sword because I spend as much time as I can with her and that doesn't leave much time for creating new jewelry.

Ivie is obsessed with bracelets. Well not specifically bracelets but things she can put on and wear like bracelets like plastic rings, ribbons and of course mommys delicate crocheted bangles. So I want to make her some special bracelets of her very own and also create some more of the the crocheted bangles so everyone can be as fancy as Ivie.

    Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day I have created some jewelry using recycled materials.

I am a collector and I subscribe to a ton of magazines. I rip out articles and pictures in the hope that they may some day inspire me. But really what they do is take up a ton of space. So in anticipation of Earth Day I started de-cluttering and ran across some really cool images.

I got out my trusty craft scissors and started cutting out these images. Using the images, some junk mail postcards and Mod Podge, I created some really cool pendants. They turned out so good that I am considering creating a whole line using this technique. Recycling, saving the environment and looking good - what could be better?

    Crafting for Charity

As I announced in a previous post, we have adopted a daughter from China. We have now been home for 5 months with our smart, beautiful, funny girl.

To honor little Ivie, I have decided to create a line of jewelry using Chinese coins and Chinese symbols. 25% of the proceeds from the sale of this line will go to the Half the Sky foundation, which works to better the conditions in Chinese orphanages.

Please check out the etsy shop to purchase this line. You get the chance to own a beautiful piece of jewelry and help the children waiting to find their forever families.

    Craft Challenge

I've decided to start a craft challenge for myself. While I was out on maternity leave, I watched a ton of craft shows on the DIY network. I got so inspired that I wrote down a list of projects that I'd love to try.

But when I got back into the real world I found that a 9 to 5 and motherhood don't lend themselves to lots of crafting. Now that I've gotten my sh*t together I think I am ready to tackle some of these projects.

The challenge goes like this: I will start a project on a Monday and post my results the following Monday. It has to be something that I have never made before. Sometimes the project will be creating a new piece of jewelry, sometimes it will be something different like sewing, crochet or embroidery. I must say I am dying to try one of the patters from Sublime Stiching.

This weeks challenge will be simple - to create a cool pair of crochet circle earrings out of this yummy red wire I have. Stay tuned next week for the results.
